Prague has one of Europe's most intact Jewish quarters and a small but functioning community on top of it. The distinction matters more here than almost anywhere: most of the famous synagogues in Josefov are administered by the Jewish Museum as exhibition spaces and are not places to daven. Active prayer is concentrated at the Old-New Synagogue, run by the Jewish Community of Prague, and at Chabad's Ahavat Yosef a few streets away. Kosher food is available from the Community's own restaurant on Maiselova and Chabad's cluster on U Milosrdnych — but every kosher kitchen in this list closes before Shabbat begins, so Shabbat meals take planning: the Community's restaurant serves them by reservation made no later than Thursday.
